The Pilates Association Australia encourages professional development for its members. The PAA advertises approved workshops to ensure its members receive updated education and information relevant to the Pilates Method in accordance with our mission statement and codes. Courses, seminars and workshops that have been assessed by the PAA are published on our web site.
Members are required to enhance their level of education and training by attending relevant courses and seminars, workshops and conferences. Approved courses, seminars and workshops are given professional development points (PDPs). Each member is required to accrue 20 PDPs every two years with a maximum of 15 attained in a single year.
If a program is not on the published list and you wish to gain PDPs for attending, be mindful that such courses are considered to be non-approved programs and will therefore not be allocated full PDPs.
The PAA regards professional development to be based on the following fundamentals:
- Relevance – what makes a difference in the Pilates industry?
- Research – what are the latest findings and what is their impact?
- Forums for continuing discussion and debate.
- Sharing of information amongst members.
For full details on professional development refer to the PAA’s professional development information.
Please note that attendance at all registered training organisations offering professional development will earn you 1 PDP per hour of the program. All other programs offered will be determined as outlined in the professional development information document.
A summary of professional development options is shown on the website for each state. Click on the training organisation, website or brochure for information such as location, timing & duration, number of PDPs, the cost, course description and pre-requisites.
