President’s Report November 2015
Welcome members to the November edition of the PAA newsletter.
Thank you to all of you who were able to attend the 2015 Pilates Alliance Australasia Conference. It was wonderful to chat personally with as many of you as I could and I loved seeing practitioners from different genres of the Pilates Method working together and sharing ideas. You may read in the round up by Olga Tamara, that the conference was greatly enjoyed and was a very successful event thanks to you all.
The committee have been working on a 5 year Strategic Direction for the PAA. This plan will focus on member benefits, research grants, financial succession plans for future committees and sustainability. The details of this plan will be presented in detail at the AGM to be held on 20th November in Sydney.
The advertising campaign for the Health and Wellbeing brochures has been a successful venture, with distribution reaching 96% of the general public visiting GP practices throughout Australia.
The PAA continues to be supported by Human Kinetics Australia New Zealand. Please refer to the Book Review of Rael Isacowitz’s second edition of Pilates in this newsletter.
On behalf of you all, I will also be bidding farewell to our Vice President of the past 5 years, Olga Tamara. Olga has dedicated so much time and commitment to the general committee at every level, but especially to the conference management over the past five years. Olga’s professionalism and experience is certainly reflected in three outstanding conference events.
In addition, I would like to farewell Felicia Darbyshire Pirie, Marcia Teperman, Liz Chamas and Rachel Reed. All four ladies have contributed their time, energy and knowledge to the committee. You will all be missed, and I wish you the very best for future ventures and thank you for your considerable contribution to the PAA.
Happy Spring everyone. Have a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy and exciting New Year.
