  • western herbal medicine
  • yoga”

Message from Robyn Rix, PAA President:

I am super excited that Prof Michael Kidd has recommended the re-inclusion of Pilates for health fund rebates. We owe a truckload of gratitude to Dr Penny Latey, co-founding member of the APMA and now PAA life-member, who has fought tirelessly on the Natural Therapies Review Expert Advisory Panel to secure this result.

I have “fond” memories of being stuck in isolation at the height of Covid in a motel in Tweed Heads (that looked like it was from a Breaking Bad episode), working multiple late nights collating research.

The PAA, as the key stakeholder for Pilates, submitted a significant tranche of research for evaluation and provided prompt, timely and relevant stakeholder evidence.

Not only am I proud of the successful outcome, but also the quality of the work. I know what I contributed was a tiny fraction of the work required of Penny, so I say an enormous “Thank you!”

There are still several steps to go to get Health Fund rebates back, but this is a major hurdle that has been cleared. I look forward to fighting the good fight in the next step, and we will keep you informed of our progress.
