What originally motivated you to try Pilates and then go on to train as an instructor?

I first started Pilates as a teenager. My ballet teacher suggested I start as a way to help improve my strength. I was naturally drawn to undertaking instructor training. It felt like a great partnership alongside my professional dance career. I wanted to know more about how to keep my body strong and injury free so I could get through the rigours of an 8 show week.

What did you eat for breakfast?

A soy Chai Latte (the real kind made from leaves) and a hot cross bun.

In one word, describe your first Pilates experience?

Humbling

What’s the best thing about your job?

I love helping clients achieve their goals. I enjoy the puzzle of it all. Working out where the client is at that day and how I can best assist them to walk out the room feeling better than when they came in. I particularly like working with clients with chronic injuries. If they come in saying they have gone a week without pain…that’s the best.

Your ‘go to’ website for all things Pilates (other than PAA)?

Pilates Anytime of course.

What’s your favourite Pilates podcast? Why do you recommend it?

I can’t say i have delved into the work of Pilates pod casts. I’ll put that on my To Do list.

The best advice you’ve ever had?

This came from my agent when I was working on a show but I think it applies to how we can approach Pilates.
“Take it one step at a time. Don’t get overwhelmed by the end game and if things go wrong, acknowledge then let that go”.

An indulgence you can’t live without?

Soy Chai Lattes

Do you have a motto?

Leave your ego at the door.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?

Remembering to take the time to get on the mat myself.

How do you use PAA?

I use it to stay up to date with what workshops are coming. Keep up to date with relevant information. I’m currently doing my TAE and I have found a lot of the articles and information on education really useful.

Who is your Pilates idol or would love to meet, and why?

I would love to meet Karen Clippinger. Dancer.

What do you appreciate most about your body?
