“A MOVEMENT OF MOVEMENT” The Movie
Directed by Mark Pedri.
The idea to make a film about Pilates was born out of a dinner conversation Mark Pedri had with Michele Dorsey and Jana Weber, who are both Pilates instructors. He randomly asked them about the guy who invented “what they do”. Little did he know a month later he would start making a film about “what they do.” As Mark did more research and began production, the film became more about the essence of the Pilates Method and less about the person, Joe Pilates.
A Movement of Movement is an artistic expression of the essence of Pilates. Balancing expert testimonies with carefully crafted and interpreted scenes, the film steps beyond the traditional documentary format to tell an inspirational story about a compelling movement, Pilates.
Mark Pedri the Director/Producer of the movie was born and raised in south western Wyoming. Mark’s passion for filmmaking began with making short films about extreme sports. He moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend film school at DePaul University. While in film school, Mark was able to experiment in every aspect of filmmaking from writing and editing to acting and composing musical scores. He soon realized his passion was for non-fictional storytelling in the documentary format. Mark moved back to Wyoming where he earned a MA in Communication and Journalism from the University of Wyoming in 2011. During his studies at the University of Wyoming, Mark began producing the feature length documentary, Energy! O Energy!, which has won awards worldwide on the film festival circuit. A week after completing Energy! O Energy!, Mark began making A Movement of Movement. He is currently living in Los Angeles where he is working on a new project and attending the University of Southern California for a MFA in Producing.
The Australian Film premiere is on the 4th November 2013 at the Orpheum Picture Theatre Mosman NSW. (Other states TBA)
