2019 Conference
With the conference over we begin to shape and plan the next event, thank you to all who attended and have completed the feedback survey.
Wonderful compliments on presenters and workshops, overall organisation of event, venue and food were received. Although some delegates were disappointed by a few presenters and workshops which did not deliver as expected. We will consider all the feedback and use it to improve future processes and events.
The feedback also provided a great list of suggestions for international presenters and local presenters to start discussions. While many are keen to see a return of favourites from previous conferences like Cara Reeser, Sherri Betz, Blossom Leilani, Deb Lesson, Madeline Black and Kathy Ross Nash there were also many new suggestions such as Jay Grimes, Dana Santi, Jennifer Zaffino, Enja Schenck, Andrea Maida and Carrie Pages among others. With so many excellent suggestions, the selection process will be interesting to say the least!
The conference accounts have now been finalised and, given the challenges of a busy year of international visitors and the unexpected competition directly before our event, we’re pleased to announce that we made a profit.
Committee
The next committee meeting is 15 November, in preparation the committee are discussing options to extend the membership levels, enhancing student benefits and engagement.
The PAA Member and Industry Survey will be released soon as a follow up on the 2017 surveys. We want your input in our 2019 Industry survey to enable the PAA continue to be relevant, grow and support members in the changing industry landscape.
NTREAP Update
The Executive and Education committee have been working in conjunction with the APMA to review and update the format of the Pilates Scope of Practice in line with similar professions in Australia and are continuing to collate research for the Natural Therapies Review. The next meeting of the NTREAP is anticipated for November.
Meetups / local groups
There was such a great community atmosphere at the conference and we want to foster that throughout the country. To enhance the sense of community and collaboration of members as colleagues rather than competitors we are keen to facilitate a Pilates meet up group in each city or region to develop and promote the community aspect of the PAA.
If you would like to take this idea and run with it in your area please let us know sharan@pilates.org.au
