Welcome to the August 2016 PAA Newsletter
Many of us have worked through a cold and windy winter, but let’s hope that warm and inviting studios have kept the winter blues away for many.
You will have noticed on the PAA website, that a Member’s Benefits page has been added. The member benefits subcommittee have put in a solid effort in securing some wonderful affiliates, all offering substantial discounts to PAA members. Be sure to check this page regularly for month by month discounts and special offers. Affiliates cross the board in the Pilates arena, from socks, to equipment and even business support systems.
In order to provide your clients with health rebates, health insurance companies require that all instructors maintain accurate records of all sessions with clients. Under Resources in the Document Library area of the member’s section of the PAA website, you will find a Case Note Template that you may choose to use when creating and maintaining records. It is recommended by the PAA that case notes are kept for all clients who are claiming a benefit from your sessions.
You may also notice that Stan Barnes from Bookings Essential has made a few changes to the website – simplifying login processes and increasing its friendliness. Please feel free to email me on jen@pilates.org.au if you have any queries or suggestions.
Our social media subcommittee have been posting marvellous articles and relevant information on key sites. Remember to share and comment on topics as you see fit, so as to increase the general public’s knowledge of Pilates and the PAA. Always remember to #PAA.
I have been fortunate enough to share the Pilates word recently, speaking firstly at the Arthritis SA conference about Pilates for juvenile arthritic conditions and then to co-present with Dr Marie Louis Bird, Associate Professor Anna Baker and Jason Talevski, on recent research on ‘Pilates for the Elderly and Falls Prevention’ at the World Congress for the Ageing in Melbourne.
In this edition we share some wonderful articles on cueing, choosing insurance and the ‘perpetual student’. Again, another Book Review from material supplied by our good friends at Human Kinetics.
The newsletter is provided for our members and we would love for you to share stories, anecdotes and studio pictures with everyone. Anything you wish to contribute, please email to kerry@pilates.org.au
The PAA Annual General Meeting will be held in Sydney on Friday 19 November. Time and venue are to be confirmed.
I wish you all a safe and warm finish to these winter months and hope to speak to you all soon.
