PAA Conference 2013 – It was a special event

The PAA conference 2013 was a good 14months in the making and judging by the delegate feedback forms and feedback during the weekend, the hard work paid off. The PAA conference 2013 was extremely well received with record attendance. It successfully unified different schools and methods of Pilates.

Our international guest presenters Blossom, Brent, Brett and MeJo were suitably impressed by the high standard and quality of the event stating that it was “one of the best they had ever experienced”.

While the event was a success is doesn’t mean that there is no room for improvement. There were a few constructive suggestions that we shall definitely take on board for the next Conference in 2015.

I would like to personally thank our previous president Lanette Gavran for organising the presenters contracts, travel details and accommodation as well as transport to and from the conference venue during the presenters stay in Sydney.

A big thank you to Sharan Simmons who worked tirelessly by my side in the many months leading up to the event. Malcolm Boulter for working around the clock coordinating the online system and Mary McCarthur and Felicia Darbyshire, for working on delegates lists, proofing and managing the hard working student volunteers Katie Goodear, Paddy Coary, Sophie Irvine, Kristi Viitali, Constantina Kottaridis, Rachael Sheridan, Ian Wing, Frances Chippeck and Susan Robertson Doran.

We would not be able to run this event without the support of Anne and Chris from HFIndustries. They provide the much needed equipment for the workshops and this year provided a number of the new fantastic Centerline Classical Pilates reformers. If you haven’t tried them out yet I suggest you do. They are quite impressive.

Rachel Reed, our treasurer has worked tirelessly working with the auditor and getting our 2011 and 2012 financials in order! A difficult task which she thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks Rachel for loving what you do! We need you.

As you can see it takes a team to succeed and what a great team we have.

Congratulations once more and welcome to our two newly appointed committee members Liz Chamas and Marcia Teperman Shapira and president Jenni Guest who is no stranger to the committee having been the PAA secretary for the past 4 Years. We all look forward to working with you.

Olga Tamara
PAA Vice President
