2023 Annual General Meeting

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Pilates Alliance Australasia will take place at the PAA Conference, Melbourne and also online via Zoom.

As a valued member of the PAA, we invite you to join the meeting to be held on:

Updated PAA Constitution

At our upcoming AGM, we will be giving our members the opportunity to vote on a new constitution.

The Associations Incorporation Regulation model constitution, on which our constitution is based, has recently been updated to cater for the increasing use of electronic communication, and to add clarity and remove redundancies.

Our proposed new constitution is based on the new model and committee has also taken the opportunity to update some provisions, mostly notably as follows:

  • Redefine and clarify the categories of membership
  • Clarify and remove ambiguities in the sections concerning membership application, and committee member terms of office

Change of Name
More importantly, the committee proposes to change the name of the Pilates Alliance Australasia to the Pilates Association Australia. The joining of the APMA and the PAA is an important step to building a strong and cohesive Pilates Community and a new name is a strong symbol.

If the new constitution is approved at the AGM, new branding will follow.

Elections

Chris Lavelle (Vice President) has reached the end of her nine year term on committee (as outlined in the PAA Constitution) and will stand down.

We invite nominations for the following positions which are up for election at this meeting:

  • Vice President
  • At least two ordinary committee members

Nominations
The PAA committee aim to have the diversity of our membership represented in our committee and encourage all members to consider stepping up to the challenge.

Becoming a member of the PAA committee is a commitment to make an active contribution to the many projects being undertaken. To join this busy and dynamic team submit your nomination form by email to: info@pilates.org.au

Deadline extended
Nomination forms for office bearers & general committee must be received by Friday 18 August at 2pm.

Candidates will be announced by 5pm on Friday 18 August 2023.

If there is more than one candidate for the Vice President position, or for each of the Ordinary Committee positions, voting will take place at the AGM. Proxy forms will also be made available in advance.
