What originally motivated you to try Pilates and then go on to train as an instructor?
I originally started going to Pilates classes as a mental timeout for myself away from my corporate job as well as a chance to move my body in a way that wasn’t just going for a walk! After each class, I felt like I was walking on clouds and very quickly, I noticed that Pilates had a huge impact on my body, pre-baby, during pregnancy and as a post natal Mama as well as on my mindset. Needless to say, it made me question my day job and here I am.
What did you eat for breakfast?
Eggs and toast!
In one word, describe your first Pilates experience?
Amazing!
What’s the best thing about your job?
Everybody and every body is different.
I love having a mix of clients with different goals and needs in private studio sessions as well as mixing it up with running classes too. I love that there is always more to learn and that no knowledge is ever wasted.
Your ‘go to’ website for all things Pilates (other than PAA)?
What’s your favourite Pilates podcast? Why do you recommend it?
–
The best advice you’ve ever had?
You can do it.
An indulgence you can’t live without?
MUSIC!
How long have you been a member of PAA and how did you hear about PAA?
Since 2020 (I think..?) I heard about PAA through my courses with Polestar Pilates Education.
Do you have a motto?
Yes lots! …the ones I remind myself of the most….’Breathe. You’ve got this’ and ‘You want it? Go get it’.
What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?
Juggling mama life!
How do you use PAA?
I love a lot of things about the PAA. I especially love the journal subscriptions and looking at which PDPs are running throughout the year.
Who is your Pilates idol or would love to meet, and why?
I wish I could go back in time and meet Joseph himself. I’m a stickler for details, so I would love to know where his mindset was at with everything! What did he think about Contrology, what weaknesses he saw and how he tackled them or planned to tackle them, how he planned his classes for his students, how he created each piece of apparatus, what did he think of them, were they at the standard he wanted them to be for the purpose, were there any other apparatus ideas that he was thinking about…
What do you appreciate most about your body?
That when you put your mind to it….your body can make the impossible possible!
The book you’re currently reading?
When the Body says No by Gabor Mate and The Parasitic Mind by Gad Saad.
