Brent Anderson, PhD, PT, OCS, Cert®-CPT
President and CEO, Polestar Pilates Education
Dr. Brent Anderson specializes in the impact of Pilates rehabilitation on chronic low back pain using psycho-emotional wellness and quality of life measures. He owns and operates Polestar Physical Therapy and Pilates Center in Miami, FL. Brent brings to the Polestar curriculum an investigation of the effects of psychology and energy systems on motor control and motor learning.
Blossom Leilani Crawford,
Owner / director of Bridge Pilates in Brooklyn, NY.
After voluntarily taking Kathy Grant’s class every semester of her college career, Blossom became the Teaching Assistant in Kathy Grant’s Pilates mat class at Tisch for over a decade (1997-2007). Inspired by Kathy Grant’s teaching, Blossom has taught at studios throughout New York City and at Pilates conferences around the country. Blossom was certified in in the classical Pilates method 1999 through private study with Romana Kryzanowska.

Brett was certified by the New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification Program under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska in 1998, he has been a Teacher of Teachers for the program since 2003. He has trained and worked extensively with Pilates Elders Mary Bowen, Jay Grimes and Lolita San Miguel, He is “Distinguished Instructor” on Pilates Anytime and is featured on Pilatesology.
MeJo Wiggin,
Leading Classical Pilates Practitioner – Trainer – Presenter
MeJo began studying with Master Teacher Romana Kryzanowska in 1990. By 1995 she was teaching next to Romana and was later certified in 2003 as a Teacher Trainer for Romanas’ new school, Romana’s Pilates. Romana often referred to MeJo’s work as “Poetry in Motion,” and she awarded MeJo with a Gold Card in 2002 for her advanced abilities. MeJo’s work continues to gain popularity, and is sought after for her captivating seminars in the United States, Europe, and Russia. She is a featured teacher for Pilatesology.

Mat for all delegates – MeJo Wiggin
“The Classical Pilates Mat – in Real Time” This class will be a full mat workout in real time, where you will learn smooth transitions and variations of exercises to help maintain a continuous flow with rhythm and dynamics.
Workshop 1 – Brett Howard
Pilates for Scoliosis – The Pilates for Scoliosis Seminar gives participants the ability to recognize scoliosis in a client and give them the ability to design and execute methods and protocols of working with this population of people by implementing exercises of the Pilates method of body conditioning.
Workshop 1 – Blossom Leilani Crawford
Kathy Grant’s Cats and Beyond- Blossom will demonstrate how the principles and imagery of Kathy Grant’s “cat moves” can transfer to skills to use on the Pilates equipment. This includes teaching body alignment, breath integration and, being able to identify asymmetry within your client’s body.
Workshop 1 – Brent Anderson
Optimizing the Mind and Spirit The Polestar Pilates Way – You will be taken through an interactive workshop discovering the discipline and consciousness needed for a healthy Pilates based lifestyle. Learn how to improve the quality of life and how to encourage their clients to implement the mind and spirit aspects of Joseph Pilates’ philosophy.

“The Fundamentals of the Classical Pilates Reformer”
This 2hr workshop that will cover the details of the basic exercises taught on the classical reformer. MeJo will explain in depth the reason behind the movements and get you to feel the difference of a classical reformer.
Friday Elective – Blossom Leilani Crawford
Before the Hundreds – In that class Kathy Grant developed a vocabulary for the warm up exercises that came before she started the traditional Pilates Matwork, and in this curriculum lies the heart of Kathy’s work. Blossom will show you how It incorporates sound, creativity, imagery and sensory awareness in order to strengthen and align the body.

Polestar Pilates Approach to Healing Through Movement- This two hour workshop will focus on the unique healing properties that accompany movement of the Body, Mind and Spirit. You will move and appreciate a non-muscular focused movement experience that is stimulating to the energetic system.
Workshop 2 – MeJo Wiggin
“The Arm Chair” The Arm Chair is one of the most under utilized pieces of apparatus. Due to an injury, MeJo spent hours on the Arm Chair with Romana to help rehabilitate her neck. This workshop will discuss the benefits of the chair, the numerous exercises on the chair, and how to teach them to your clients with great results.
Workshop 2 – Blossom Leilani Crawford
Connected Arms and Strong Torso – The focus of his workshop will be on the arms attachment to the body and the movement of the shoulder girdle. Using the Reformer and Cadillac, along with a collection of props, this workshop explores how proper arm placement and torso alignment work to create greater body awareness.
Workshop 2 – Brent Anderson
Myth and Science of Healthy Spine Movement in Pilates
This two hour workshop with Dr. Anderson will draw from current research and will present conflicting view points on “core control” and spine articulation. Dr. Anderson will dispel many concerns regarding what is normal and not normal pertaining to healthy spine movement and will show how to modify movement when spine pathology is present.
Saturday Elective B – Brett Howard
Pilates for Children- This workshop focuses on appropriate methods of teaching the Pilates Method to the child learner. Learn cognitive, behavioural, physiological and anatomical considerations in teaching this population. Learn how to generate creative lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate as well.
Saturday Elective –Blossom Leilani Crawford
Wunda Chair
This will be an exploration of the traditional (and not so traditional) exercises of the Wunda Chair. Because of this Kathy had a unique interpretation of the Wunda Chair exercises and went on to develop her own subtle variations. In this Wunda Chair workshop Blossom will remind you of some of the exercises that are completely accessible, but sometimes forgotten.
Saturday Elective – Brent Anderson
Experience without Pain
Dr. Anderson will present research that supports the single most influencing factor in facilitating a positive movement experience without pain. Learn some of the whys behind what some consider the miracle of Pilates.
Sunday Elective – Blossom Leilani Crawford
Matwork Exploration
This workshop will review some of Mr. Pilates’ matwork vocabulary with a special emphasis on imagery that Kathy. We will take a look at Kathy’s special additions of rhythm and choreography that she used while teaching matwork.
Sunday Elective – Brett Howard and MeJo Wiggin
The Rare Equipment
Joe Pilates developed over 20 different pieces of apparatus in his lifetime. Many of the apparatus is rarely seen in studios today. This 2 hr workshop will introduce several amazing pieces of apparatus, including the Toe Tens-o-meter, Neck Stretcher, Pedipole, Bean Bag, and Foot Corrector.

Learn how the biomechanics and motor control associated with breath can significantly improve your ability to teach Pilates and other mind/body movement systems.
